In late November, 2024, I had my right knee replacement surgery. FInally, after 50 years of dislocated knees, I was able to get it fixed! I had my left leg Surgery Knee Replacement done in July, and it went like a perfect textbook surgery! Everything went well. So, I decided to go ahead with my Right Knee Replacement surgery. I am a teacher, so I had to take off one month of school in December.
I went in for surgery on November 21st, and everything went wrong! During the surgery, I woke up and was able to hear the doctors talking and music playing! I saw some x-rays hanging up near me, and I thought, wow, that person’s leg is deformed! Meanwhile, the Orthopedic Surgeon noticed that I was awake! So she gave me a cocktail of medication to put me back to sleep.
Then, when it was over, I woke up. My husband, Peter, was there with me. Then my mom came in and took turns visiting me with my mom. About 30 minutes after waking up, I was in horrible pain! It was so bad, I started screaming! Then, one nurse came and gave me a shot of Fetinol! I went to sleep and woke up again, about 30 minutes later, screaming again, but this time it was because I was delirious and though I saw brown snakes crawling on the wall! I was supposed to go home that day, but my mom stood up for me and said that I should not go home until my pain was under control. So the doctor decided to keep me overnight.
Later, the surgeon told me that it was an extremely difficult surgery because when they opened up my knee, it was dislocated! So that x-ray that I saw was really my knee x-ray. They had to reconstruct my leg before they could do the knee replacement surgery!
Then. overnight, I continued to have pain. Then, I also had an asthma attack!
So the next day, I was telling the nurses who were attending to me all that happened and the suffering that I went through. I asked my husband, Peter, if he could bring in some P.W.T.’s and medical testaments from the car. P.W.T. stands for personal workers New Testament.) So, I then led several nurses to the Lord, showing them the PWT’s and medical new testaments, and how to be saved by reading the last page in the Gideons’ Bible. Then, several more nurses and physical therapists came in to see me and also took a Gideons’ Bible! So, in the end, even though I suffered through this surgery with a lot of problems, God helped me to focus on the nurses and their need for salvation!
A month later, I had a severe infection in that surgery site. So I had to return to a redo surgery to clean it out! I now have had to be off work for several months due to having two wounds that are still healing. God continues to provide in that my short-term disability came through. Praise the Lord!
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths“.
